The talk by Sven Kalker, chief engineer at ISEA of RWTH Aachen University, examines the potential of online condition monitoring for future power electronic systems, presents successfully developed technologies and highlights remaining challenges.
General Information about the FENomenal Friday “ lectures
The Research Campus Flexible Electrical Networks (FEN) conducts research on the development of a flexible power grid that will, among other things, guarantee energy supply with a high share of decentralized and renewable energy sources (https://www.fenaachen.net/vision).
The research campus organizes online lectures, the so-called "FENomenal Friday" events, on issues from this research field. They are aimed at both experts and interested members of the public.
The next lecture will take place on June 30/2023, 10.00 - 11.00 a.m.
Topic: "Condition-Monitoring of Power Electronic Systems“
Speaker: Sven Kalker, M.Sc., chief engineer at ISEA of RWTH Aachen University

The digitalization of the energy system is a key element of the energytransition. In October 2022, the European Commission released the Digitalizationof Energy Action Plan which gives guidelines on how to achieve this goal. Nomatter which approaches we take, digitalization is a complex process that hasto be anyway implemented in a short time to really support the overarching goalof decarbonization. For this reason, cooperation is critical both on theresearch side and on the business side.
