How can efficient and compact DC-DC converters berealized for the electrification of agricultural and construction machines, aswell as for future DC grids?
Direct supply of agricultural and construction machinery via a medium-voltage DC cable requires the use of novel components, innovative control methods and optimization of the converters in terms of volume and weight. The development of a medium-frequency transformer that combines an output power of several hundred kilowatts with a high operating frequency also poses a particular challenge.
In the scope of the presentation, the project results of the publicly funded project ‘MUSiCel’ (BMWK, PtJ) will be presented, in which a galvanically isolated DC-DC converter was built based on SiC components and which combines a nominal power of 250 kW with a switching frequency of 50 kHz while achieving an efficiency of over 98%.
In a nutshell the topics will be:
• Electrification of agricultural and construction machines
• 250 kW, 50 kHz DC-DC converter with 98 % efficiency
• 3,3kV SiC-Semiconductors
• Medium Frequency transformer for galvanic isolation (Design, Dimensioning, Construction)
