The establishment of medium-voltage direct current (MVDC) grids is hamperedby the lack of standardized protection concepts. Approaches for protectingconverters and for the rapid detection and targeted disconnection of faultylines are intended to enable the rapid recommissioning of remaining grid areas. On this basis, measurement results on fault behavior in the FEN campus networkare presented, supplemented by tests with protection components and analyses ofa breakerless DC grid with a three-phase dual-active bridge.
